Ugly to beautiful to ugly fire ring

Pip Rees is an educator for Leave No Trace, she works at OPC and has been running training for OPC staff and others in Leave No Trace since completing her trainer course in 2010 and then her master educator course in 2011.  This is a post from her:

This is the fire ring we at OPC remediated on our LNT training towards the end of last year. The first photo is the fire ring one month on - not too bad,

but this photo was taken in April this year - 5 months on and not looking good!
The hunters added a corrugated iron sheet and the impact of the fire has again expanded.  This was not due to OPC staff at least, but from the efforts of hunters who regularly use this campsite. Hmm, perhaps an opportunity for education. Maybe we could stick LNT info up around the campsite!

Research shows that people take better care of places that are tidier.  That means when we pick up litter and tidy up it does more than just make the place look better, our efforts also help others to see this is a place that others care for.
