We held a strategic planning meeting on Somes Island in Wellington harbour on the 12-13 May. It makes such a difference to get together in person as opposed to talking on the phone. Part of our time together is to have fun and appreciate the places that we want to help protect, the other part is thinking about what Leave No Trace can do to make a difference.
So between night walks and finding a giant weta, blue penguin and tuatara, we wrote on many post-its and poster paper and narrowed our purpose to goals that are achieveable for a small organisation that has relied exclusively on volunteers up until now.
At the weekend, we welcomed Ian Logie to Leave No Trace, he will be working one day a week on seeking funding for projects and helping to build capacity to train others and make a difference.
We are looking forward to some interesting projects and in particular to inspire and promote responsible outdoor recreation and we will keep you posted.
On the board of Leave No Trace are:
Chris North, Adrienne Macleod, Sharon Alderson, Mark Russell, Matthew Bennett, Richard Wesley, Rob Maclean, Paul Chaplow and Cameron Crowe.
