Christmas, a time to give, and perhaps give back?

Kia ora,
Leave No Trace is dedicated to promoting and inspiring responsible outdoor recreation. Our education programmes help people understand how to take care of the places they go. As summer approaches and more people head outdoors, there has been increasing news coverage of environmental harm done either accidentally or deliberately. While we think of ourselves as a nation that cares for its beautiful places and the plants and animals that live there, these news stories show the need for educating the public about respectful and appropriate behaviour in the outdoors.

Leave No Trace is working hard to reach the public through education programmes. We are a small group of volunteers who have made great progress this year. We have trained all the instructors at Outward Bound and the Sir Edmund Hillary Outdoor Pursuits Centre in addition to many other groups and individuals. Our work this year means that next year, around three thousand New Zealanders will be exposed to Leave No Trace ethics.

In addition to this training, in 2010, we have established a website to provide information and developed educational resources. We see a future where people have the skills, knowledge and ethics to take care of our natural places.

Your contribution can help us to continue our efforts to educate how to enjoy the outdoors responsibly. You can donate through the Leave No Trace website http://www.leavenotrace.org.nz/Make+A+Donation (as a registered charity, your donation will be eligible for tax deduction).

Please support us in achieving better care of our great outdoors
