Leave No Trace using a smartphone app

Leave No Trace New Zealand is a big fan of CamperMate, a great smartphone app developed by award-winning Christchurch mobile technology innovator Mogeo (pronounced mo-jee-oh).

CamperMate is useful for anyone getting out and about in New Zealand, whether you’re a resident or international tourist.  The app pinpoints users’ location using GPS, shows nearby facilities such as toilets, rubbish bins, campsites, supermarkets and so on – in fact there are some 6,500 POIs (Points of Interest) embedded in the app’s data-set – and users can recommend more that they think should be included.
The great thing about this app is it provides on-the-spot answers needed by campervan and rental car users, removing the temptation to simply dump their rubbish and waste anywhere along our roads and highways.

Spread the word . . . this app should be on every New Zealand smartphone.
